Life Enrichment Services – Fitness

Aquatics (16 years and older)

Our WSI-certified instructor focuses on improving each participant’s health and wellness through fun water fitness and strengthening their water safety and swim skills. Designed for individuals with disabilities with intermediate to advanced swim skills; class is 1:6 student/instructor ratio.

Staenberg Family Complex/Creve Coeur
Fall: Mondays, Sept 1 – Dec 1, 3-4pm ($360 per session)

 

Personal Training (16 years and older)

Teens and adults with disabilities work with nationally-certified personal trainers to set fitness and independence goals to become their healthiest self. Each workout is customized to fit the needs of the individual and the trainer tracks progress toward the set goals. All trainers are currently working toward an Inclusive Fitness Trainer Certification from ACSM. Sponsored by the Productive Living Board.

Twistin’ & Turnin’ (16 years and older)

Adapted for people with disabilities, this dance class is unlike any other. Taught by a certified instructor, participants can feel the burn and dance to lively music from around the world.

Life Enrichment Services at the J Receive Funding from The Productive Living Board of St. Louis

At its May board meeting, the Productive Living Board of St. Louis County (PLB) approved an investment in The J’s Life Enrichment Services program.

PLB ensures funding for a spectrum of high-quality services that create opportunities for St. Louis County residents with developmental disabilities to thrive in the home, community, and employment settings of their choosing. In the 2023 fiscal year, they have committed to a $25,121,134 investment that will serve nearly 4,000 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through the 114 programs provided by their 39 funded partners.
