A women’s event continuing to look at Jewish values and updated implications for our health and wellness. Discussions will include:

Part 1: Wednesday, November 18, 7:30-8:30pm

  • KNOW the Facts, LEARN the Risks, TAKE Action
    • Importance of knowing your family history and increased cancer genetic risk factors facing the Jewish community
      Led by Certified Genetics Counselor, Suzanne Mahon, Ph.D.
  • A Guided Mindfulness Session
    • Learn ways to practice techniques that help the body and mind reduce stress
      Led by Renata Sledge, MSW, LCSW

 Part 2: Wednesday, December 9, 7:30-8:30pm

  • How to Gather Your Family’s Medical History
    • Why a family medical history enhances the health care your family receives and how to gather useful information
      Led by Clinical Psychologist, Lynne Kipnis, Ph.D.
  • How to Be Your Healthiest Healthy; Gatekeeper of Your Personal Health
    • Finding time to take care of yourself and the importance of doing so even during a pandemic
      Led by Abigail Hoffman, M.D., Breast Surgeon

Sharsheret Supports STL, a collaborative program of The J and the national Sharsheret organization, improves the lives of Jewish women and families living with breast or ovarian cancer through personalized support and educates the Jewish community regarding increased hereditary cancer risks.

Taharath Israel of St. Louis is an affiliate of the Vaad Hoeir, the United Orthodox Jewish Community of St. Louis. The association maintains two mikvahs for ritual immersion. They are the Staenberg Family Mikvah located on the Jewish Community Campus at 4 Millstone Campus Drive in Creve Coeur, and the Rebbetzin Nacha Rivkin and Rebbetzin Hinde Zuckerman Memorial Shabbat Mikvah located at Young Israel of St. Louis, 8101 Delmar Blvd. in University City.
