B’ruchim Ha’baim, welcome, to my new ask the rabbi blog.  Here I hope to help raise interesting discussion about topics related to Judaism and Jewish Life.  Please e-mail me, Rabbi Brad, any questions you might have and I will post appropriate questions along with my response.

We now find ourselves in the important period between the holidays of Passover and Shavuot.  This seven week period is called the Omer.  On Passover we celebrated the freedom of the Jewish people, who were freed from bondage in Egypt, but not until we received God’s law on Mount Sinai was our journey complete.  On Shavuot, we celebrate this revelation.  The Omer links these two important holidays. One lesson to take away from all of this, is that one cannot totally be free without an agreed upon set of societal laws, regulations and ethics.  To truly be a stable and coherent community that is free we all need to find ways to live together and get along to enjoy that freedom.  Does this idea resonate with you?   Do you have further questions or any other Jewish topic?  Email with questions to Rabbi Brad and let’s get this blog going……
