Why Create Habits of Awareness
- Actively and deliberately practicing awareness can keep you safe
- Your awareness may assist in avoiding potentially risky situations even before they’re presented
- Training and usage is easier simply because you don’t need a specific place or device
- Learning to be deliberate and consistent can create lifelong, life-saving habits
- Most people won’t learn or become proficient in a physical self-defense or use of a weapon – this is the next best thing!
The Habit of Awareness
Jo Fountain has been practicing martial arts for most of her life, getting serious about Karate in her early 20s. While pregnant, the realization of change caught her attention. She was suddenly looking out for two people. Jo began to think about what some people do in this situation and about the unique traits that martial arts training instills. Among other things, an extended practice of the martial arts teaches you to be aware. This training is often used to avoid fights, which is winning them – but in a different way.
