Books and Bagels with Rabbi James Stone Goodman, Author of “Black Fire White Fire”

Have brunch with the author who turned the Torah into a volume of modern poetry
We’re excited to start a new season of Books and Bagels, the J’s literary brunch & learn series, where great conversation, local authors, and fresh bagels come together for a meaningful mid-morning break.
Black Fire White Fire is a complete Torah told in poetic verse, one foot rooted in text and the other in imagination. Rabbi Jim’s book was written over the course of three and a half years, one poem every week until every portion of the Torah was covered. Each piece is set to an Eastern Mediterranean Jewish musical melody.
His presentation will weave together his poetry, his teachings, and his musical performance.
