Care for Your Loved Ones. Support for You.
For more than 45 years, the J has provided high-quality programming for seniors and young adults with cognitive and physical impairments. Adult Day at the J operates two unique program tracks, the IN Program and Connections, which are expressly designed to help participants achieve individual goals in a group setting.
Our social support model offers a broad range of activities throughout the day with specialized programming aimed at promoting cognitive, physical and social stimulation, while also encouraging individual growth, in an inclusive and supportive environment. Our programs are licensed and certified by Missouri Department of Health and Human Services & Department of Mental Health.
Adult Day at the J is designed to serve adults who have physical, cognitive, or intellectual challenges who require supervision and support with managing daily living activities. Our Connections program is ideal for older adults with memory challenges who benefit from ongoing stimulation, regular engagement, and opportunities to connect socially. Our IN program is geared for young adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities who benefit from a variety of skill building activities and enjoy being active throughout the day. Both programs are social, group-based models allowing for a support staffing ratio of one staff person for every six participants. Please contact us for eligibility requirements.
Adult Day services provide professional, supervised care in a community-based setting through structured activities geared to stimulate both mind and body within a supportive environment. These services are expressly designed to help individuals sustain living within their community, while also providing vital respite support for their caregivers.
ADJ offers a variety of opportunities for participants to stimulate their minds and bodies on a daily basis. The physical integrity of our participants is enhanced by modified group exercises and adapted sports activities, as well as access to seasonal outdoor walks in an adjacent sensory garden. While each program participant must continue to be seen by his or her personal physician, we have a full-time registered nurse on site to assist with medication management, general wellness monitoring, and to provide preventive healthcare interventions as directed by a physician.
Our safe, pleasant environment promotes a feeling of belonging and affords a wide range of recreational and therapeutic-based activities. On average we offer 6-10 daily activities for each of our programs, as well as regular outings in the community. The programs and activities offered at ADJ aim to promote overall health and wellbeing, while facilitating socialization, individual growth, functional independence and maximum engagement, all facilitated by our team of professional care givers.
Our Professional Team Includes:

While our schedules vary day-to-day, we consistently offer exercise-based programs, hands-on activities, and cognitively stimulating programming each day. Activities include adapted sports, chair-based exercise, arts & crafts, reminiscence programs, skill building exercises, leisure projects, gardening, cooking, volunteerism, as well as a variety of therapeutic-based services throughout the week. Therapeutic-based services including Music Therapy, Pet Therapy, Speech Therapy, reminiscence activities, therapeutic art & craft projects, and year-round therapeutic gardening activities.
Our program is also uniquely positioned to offer special intergenerational programming in partnership with the J’s Early Childhood Center!
Our participants enjoy fresh, healthy meals including breakfast, lunch, and a light snack which are prepared fresh from our on-site kosher Kitchen J. All meals meet USDA Healthy Eating Guidelines for Older Adults over 60. The on-site RN adapts meals for special health needs within the parameters set forth by the participants’ overseeing medical care providers.
