An employee at a big tech company has been placed on leave after becoming the subject of a viral video. She arrives in the office of a crisis therapist determined to be reinstated to the job that gives her life meaning. A psychological thriller, JOB examines what it means to be a citizen of the internet and our obligation to help the people who need it most.
Run Time: Approximately 90 minutes with no intermission

This production contains the display of a theatrical firearm, adult language, loud and graphic noises, and discussions of self-harm, drug use, child abuse, and physical and sexual violence.
Author
Max Wolf Friedlich (Writer) is a writer from New York City. His play JOB (Outer Critics Circle Award nominee, Off-Broadway Alliance Award nominee), after two sold-out runs off-Broadway, opened at the Hayes Theater on Broadway in July 2024. He has been in residence/developed work with Berkeley Rep, Pasadena Playhouse, New York Stage and Film, IAMA Theater, Huron Station, Powerhouse at Vassar College, The Silver Sun Foundation, Less Than Rent, NY International Fringe Festival, and IRT. In TV/Film, he is currently developing new work with Jesse Eisenberg, Crunchyroll/SONY Animation, Harris Dickison’s Devisio Pictures, Scott Free, 2am, and Marc Platt Productions.

Annamaria Pileggi (Director) has directed professionally at many St. Louis theatres, including: Union Avenue Opera (Candide, A Little Night Music, My Fair Lady); St. Louis Actor’s Studio (Blackbird, Tribes, Annapurna, Comfort; Uncle Vanya; Dr. Ride’s American Beach House; The Whale, With); New Jewish (Sabina, Tuesdays with Morrie, JOB); Max & Louie Productions (Grey Gardens); Onsite (Exhibit); That Uppity Theatre (Small Domestic Acts); Muddy Waters (Vieux Carre); Dramatic License (Steel Magnolias, Driving Miss Daisy); and HotCity (Say You Love Satan, Men With Clubs, Glengarry Glen Ross, Intelligent Life, Oleanna, Reality). In addition, Pileggi served at HotCity as an Associate Director and Co-Producer of the theatre’s Greenhouse New Play Development Series from 2007 until the company’s closing in 2014. Currently, she serves as an Associate Artistic Director for St. Louis Actor’s Studio (STLAS). Pileggi is a Professor of Practice Emerita in Drama at Washington University in St. Louis.
Otis Sweezey (Set Designer) is excited to be working again with NJT, where he previously designed Into the Woods and All My Sons. Other professional work in St. Louis includes scene designs for HotCity Theatre productions of Fat Pig, Intelligent Life, Why Torture Is Wrong and The People Who Love Them, and Entertaining Mr. Sloane. He designed costumes for Mid America Dance Company’s production of Pretty Fools and Peasantry and scene design for Wonderstruck. He has designed scenery for Candide, Tales of Hoffmann, and A Little Night Music at Union Avenue Opera. Otis’s New York City design work includes designing scenery and costumes for The Servant of Two Masters at the Equity Library Theater. Originally from New York, he graduated from SUNY New Paltz and received an MFA from Brandies University. Otis retired from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville after teaching for 47 years.
Michele Friedman Siler (Costume Designer) has been designing costumes for NJT since 2001, including productions such as Prayer for the French Republic, Cabaret (St. Louis Theater Circle Honoree), The Heidi Chronicles (St. Louis Theater Circle Nominee), Baskerville, All My Sons, Into the Woods, and The Immigrant (St. Louis Theater Circle Award Nominee). Recent credits include Flyin’ West for The Black Rep, The Rose Tattoo, A Streetcar Named Desire for the Tennessee Williams Festival (St. Louis Theater Circle Nominee), The Sound Inside (Moonstone Theatre), Two Gentlemen of Verona TourCo, Into the Breeches (St. Louis Theater Circle Nominee) Shakespeare in the Streets: Winds of Change for the Shakespeare Festival of St. Louis, An Orchard for Chekhov, Life is a Dream (St. Louis Theater Circle Nominee) for Upstream Theater, Blithe Spirit (St. Louis Theater Circle Nominee) Hamlet and The Tempest, for St. Louis Shakespeare, and Waiting for Godot for St. Louis Actors’ Studio. Michele was named “Best St. Louis Costume Designer” in the 2016 Post- Dispatch GO! List and was named a 2022 “Unsung Hero” by the St. Louis Jewish Light.
Michael Sullivan (Lighting Designer) has designed many productions at NJT since his first, The Last Night of Ballyhoo, in 2011, Way to Heaven (St. Louis Theater Circle Award) in 2012, and most recently, Two Jews Walk Into a War. His work at other theatres includes The Magic Flute for Winter Opera St. Louis and Young Frankenstein for Ozark Actors Theatre. Upcoming projects are Dracula for Ozark Actors Theatre, The Color Purple for The Black Rep, and Turandot for Winter Opera.
Kareem Deanes (Sound Designer) is glad to be back at NJT. Kareem’s previous sound design work at NJT includes God of Carnage, Two Jews Walk into a War…, The Immigrant, and Trayf, and many more projects over the years. Locally, Kareem has worked for St Louis Shakespeare Festival, The Repertory Theatre of St Louis, Upstream Theater, and the St Louis Black Rep. Outside of professional theatre, Kareem is a middle school theatre teacher at Wydown Middle School in The School District of Clayton. Kareem wants to send a special thanks to his family for supporting his desire to create, which sometimes keeps him away from home. Kareem also thanks the entire production team at NJT for their support and collaboration.
