The Marquee: What’s Showing During the 2025 St. Louis Jewish

The St. Louis Jewish Film Festival’s 2025 program offers a curated selection of 13 films over six days, showcasing the breadth and depth of Jewish storytelling. From heartwarming comedies to powerful dramas and insightful documentaries, there’s something for every film lover to enjoy. Prepare to be moved, entertained, and inspired by the diverse voices and perspectives on display.
The festival kicks off on March 30 with a forward-thinking look at Fiddler On The Moon: Judaism In Space, pondering Jewish life on Mars. Following this, chat with director Michael Puro after the St. Louis debut of his film Names Not Numbers, a documentary where students interview Holocaust survivors, which promises to be a deeply moving experience. The night ends with One Life, starring Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins, who depicts the true story of Nicholas Winton, who saved over 600 children from Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia.
April 1 brings the laughs on April Fool’s Day with a Comedy Double Feature. First up is Matchmaking II, picking up where the first film left off with the engaged couple figuring out wedding details. Then, Bad Shabbos, starring Kyra Sedgwick and Method Man, shows a Shabbat dinner gone hilariously wrong.
April 3 is “Spend the Day in Israel,” beginning with Shoshana, a romantic suspense film about the pursuit of Zionist freedom fighter Avraham Stern. The evening concludes with Running On Sand, a comedy-drama about an Eritrean refugee mistaken for a soccer player.
The schedule shifts to a more retrospective tone on April 6 with Fighters, which offers powerful footage from IDF soldiers after October 7. The evening features October 8, a critical look at anti-Semitism in American higher education following the Isreal attacks on October 7. Stick around after both features for talkbacks with the directors!
The final days, April 7 and 8, explore “Unexpected Wartime Heroes,” starting with Midas Man, the story of Beatles manager Brian Epstein, and then Avenue of the Giants, about an unlikely friendship between a Holocaust survivor and a teenager. The festival wraps up on April 8 with The Stronghold, set during the Yom Kippur War, and Irena’s Vow, the remarkable true story of a nurse who hid Jews from the Nazis. It promises to be an engaging and thought-provoking two weeks!

Even with an All-Access Pass, RSVPing for each film you plan to attend is essential. This helps us manage seating effectively and ensures that everyone has a chance to enjoy the festival.
If you can’t make it to a screening, simply let us know, and we’ll release your seat to another film lover. After RSVPing and indicating which films you won’t be attending, you’ll receive your tickets, which will be used to check into each film.
Additionally, our mobile Box Office will be at the theater before every film to sell walk-up tickets, digital only.
