DESCRIPTION:A fascinating look at the true history behind NJT’s St. Louis premiere production of Joshua Harmon’s Prayer for the French Republic. Taking place in 1945-1946 and 2015\, the play follows five generations of a family in Paris who survive the Holocaust only to face new threats seventy years later. Dr. Dorian Stuber will provide an overview of the history of Jewish life in France\, focusing on the years leading up to and following World War II. He will also share the stories of some of those in our own St. Louis Jewish community whose family history connects them to France. DESCRIPTION:Prayer for the French Republic\nReserve Tickets \nby Joshua Harmon April 16-May 3\, 2026 In 1944\, a Jewish couple in Paris desperately await news of their missing family. More than 70 years later\, the couple’s great-grandchildren find themselves facing the same question as their ancestors: “Are we safe?” Following five generations of a French-Jewish family\, Prayer for the French Republic is a sweeping look at history\, home and the effects of an ancient hatred. \n   \nReserveTickets  \n\nNJT (New Jewish Theatre)\, St. Louis’s premier small professional theatre\, is dedicated to the exploration of universal themes and issues and the examination of the full range of the human experience filtered through the lens of the Jewish experience. Through the medium of theater\, we build bridges of multicultural understanding\, tolerance\, communication\, and education. NJT productions are held in the Wool Studio Theater\, inside the Arts & Education Building of the J’s Staenberg Family Complex in Creve Coeur\, Missouri. NJT is a program of the J – St. Louis.
