Breakfast at 9am, presentation to follow
Dan Gordon is the author of 15 produced Hollywood films, including The Hurricane, Wyatt Earp, Murder in the First, The Assignment and Celestine Prophecy, but those pale in comparison to the his real life experiences over the past 40 years (serving in six wars) as a member of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). His newest effort, Day of the Dead, offers a frighteningly and compelling portrait of Mid-East combat and espionage.
Gordon was drafted into the IDF in 1973, serving in the Yom Kippur War. He has worn the uniform ever since, in a variety of roles; in the Israel Air Force, as a sniper and squad leader in an armored infantry reserve unit and others. Gordon later joined the ranks of the military spokesperson unit. He has served in Operation Defensive Shield, the Second Lebanon War, Operation Cast Lead, Operation Pilar of Defense and in Operation Defensive Edge. Most recently, Gordon began serving with one of the IDF’s most elite combat units, The Givati Brigade, the most highly decorated combat unit of the last Hamas/Israel War.
In the pre-Oslo Accords period, Gordon co-authored a peace plan, met with the leaders of Egypt, King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, King Hussein of Jordan, Israeli leaders Shimon Peres and Benjamin Netanyahu and various leaders of Palestinian terrorist factions from the West Bank and Gaza.
He has written on Mid-East affairs and counter-terrorism for The Huffington Post, Breitbart News and American Thinker. As a spokesperson for the IDF and a Mid-East analyst, Gordon has appeared on most major US and European broadcast and cable news outlets, and was one of the first to coin the phrase “terrorist army,” a phenomenon which has become commonplace, as embodied by ISIS, Hezbolllah and Hamas.
