A Little About Barbara
Barbara Helmer retired from nursing in 1994 and immersed herself in local music. She became a cast member in several charitable community musical companies, including the J Singers, St. Louis Show Stoppers, Broadway Fantasies, St. Louis Charity Performances and Gifted Productions. Proceeds from these organizations have benefited the Komen Foundation, Barnes-Jewish Breast Cancer Research, Ronald McDonald House and County Older Residents Program (CORP). Barbara also volunteers her talent for various clubs, organizations and living facilities. In 2007, Barbara and Stellie Siteman developed a two-woman act called “Casual Cabaret.”
In 2009 she wrote and performed a cabaret act, “Remembering Rosemary Clooney,” at the Kranzberg Arts Center, as well as out of town. In 2010, Miss Peggy Lee was the subject of her second cabaret show.
