Your annual gift of $1,000 or more toward J programs and scholarships welcomes you into the Millstone Society – a treasured group of individuals, families and organizations whose belief in the importance of family, Jewish culture, community and philanthropy are demonstrated through their extraordinary support. This group of visionary leaders work together to support the continued growth and strength of programs benefiting the St. Louis Jewish and general communities.

The Millstone Society at the J reflects the tradition of giving inspired by legendary community leader I.E. Millstone, who established the St. Louis Jewish Community Center campus and served two terms as J Board Chair. The Millstone Society recognizes the highest level of commitment in support of The J and its many programs. Gifts from Millstone Society members support programs, sponsorships, fundraising events, membership and the earnings from a donor’s endowment fund at the J.

Visionary Levels of Giving

The Millstone Society recognizes gifts to annual programs and scholarships at the following levels:

  • Fellows: $10,000+
  • Benefactors: $5,000
  • Patrons: $2,500
  • Members: $1,000

To say thank you, the J recognizes every donor at the Fellow, Benefactor, Patron and Member level in the following ways:

  • The Millstone Society Wall in the Arts and Culture lobby at the Staenberg Family Complex
  • The upcoming ‘digital’ Millstone Society Wall on the J’s website
  • The Annual Report to the community
  • Special invitations to events for Millstone members.

Millstone Society gift levels recognize fiscal giving between the dates of January 1 and December 31 each year. Pledges must be fulfilled by year-end to be counted. Capital Campaign contributions and gifts to other special projects are recognized separately to ensure that our annual operations and scholarships remain intact.
